Frank’s Shirt Shop opened its doors in downtown Whitefish in 1947. Frank and Jessie Stephens, owned and operated the original men's clothing store. In the coming years, with partners, Rusty and Louise Abell, Frank purchased The Toggery, a neighboring clothing store.

Frank’s son, Gary Stephens, began operating The Toggery in 1970. Over the course of the next 30 years, Gary broadened the store to offer both men's and women's clothing and footwear.

Since The Toggery opened its doors, customer service and quality products have always been the number one priority. Both Frank and Gary established the business to provide the best service. For example, free gift wrapping for birthdays and holidays has been The Toggery family tradition.

This family tradition continues today. Trek Stephens and his wife Rene operate The Toggery and still claim service and quality as their top priority. They are elated to explain they have the most fun and energetic staff they have ever had. It demonstrates the family aspect of a 3rd generation business.

Trek and Rene express heartfelt thanks to all of their new and long-time customers. Trek explains, “Our business is about people. Every person who walks through the front door is part of our family.”
