“Our business is about people. Every person who walks through the front door is part of our family.”

-Trek and Rene Stephens, Store Owners

A family tradition for over 65 years.

In 1947, Frank and Jessie Stephens opened the doors of Frank’s Shirt Shop in downtown Whitefish, Montana — spurring a retail tradition that would transcend generations.

At first, the Stephens’ priority was selling quality men’s clothing. They partnered with Rusty and Louise Abell after a few years, and the group acquired a neighboring clothing store and dubbed the entire operation, The Toggery.

The family business was passed on in 1970 to Frank’s son, Gary. Over the course of 30 years, Gary broadened the store’s scope to offer both men’s and women’s clothing, and footwear.

Regardless of the generation, customer service and quality products have always been top priorities at the Toggery. Trek and Rene are proud of their fun, energetic staff that continue this long-standing tradition each day.

The Stephens express a heartfelt thank you to new and
long-time customers, alike.
